The tool first optimizes PDF structure. Image compression is optional and requires you to opt in because it changes page content into images.
Compare any page at fit, 150%, or 200% zoom. Check the actual output size, then download the result yourself.
Some PDFs are already well compressed. The extension offers the smallest tested result, even if it cannot reach your target, and does not deliberately offer a file larger than your original.
Encrypted PDFs are unsupported. Files above 100 MB are rejected; large documents can still require substantial memory. Targets use decimal units: 1 KB = 1,000 bytes.
Image compression is lossy. Flattening removes selectable text, links, form interactivity, accessibility structure, and digital signatures. Even structural rewrites can invalidate cryptographic signatures. Review the output before using it, and keep your original PDF.
Both the web workspace and extension process PDF contents locally. The current extension source includes no uploads, analytics, remote scripts, accounts, host permissions, or background file storage. Files remain in the workspace tab until you close it or choose another PDF. Downloaded copies remain on your device until you delete them.
PDF rendering resources are bundled locally. The website’s browsing practices are described in our privacy policy.
The target is not always achievable. Try optional image compression only if its quality and document-feature trade-offs suit your file. Compare the output before downloading.
Optional image compression rasterizes pages. Use a structural-only result or retain the original if you need text, forms, links, or accessibility features.
Encrypted PDFs and files larger than 100 MB are unsupported. Reload the extension, close old workspace tabs, and open it again. Keep your original and try a smaller, unencrypted test file.
Use the developer contact on the extension’s Chrome Web Store listing when available. Include the extension version, Chrome version, file size, and steps to reproduce. Do not send private PDFs or sensitive document content.
