SCREENSHOT EDITING GUIDE

How to Edit a Screenshot in Chrome with Snap Entire

Updated · By Snap Entire

A useful screenshot does more than capture a page: it points out what matters. Use Snap Entire’s built-in preview editor to crop a capture, add an explanation, or cover a detail before exporting. This guide starts after you have captured a webpage with Snap Entire.

YOUR CAPTURE. YOUR CANVAS.

Point it out.
Make it clear.

Turn a screenshot into useful feedback with a few thoughtful edits.

Open the screenshot editor

Capture a webpage using Full page, Visible area, or Select area. When the preview opens, select the part you want to change and click Edit. Editing applies to the current image part, so a long capture split into several parts needs to be edited part by part.

Crop a screenshot after capture

Choose Crop and drag a rectangle around the content you want to keep. The latest crop rectangle is used when you apply your changes. This differs from Select area in the capture popup: Select area chooses what to capture, while Crop trims an image you have already captured.

Add arrows and text for clearer feedback

Choose Arrow, select a color and size, then drag from the starting point to the detail you want to indicate. For a written explanation, choose Text, click the screenshot, and type your label. Press Enter or click outside the field to place it; Escape cancels the pending label. For a design review, point an arrow at the affected element and add a short note describing the change you want.

Highlight the important part

Choose Highlight and drag over the area that deserves attention. Select a color and size in the toolbar. Highlighting adds a translucent overlay so the content beneath remains visible. Use it to emphasize a section of an article or an area of a layout; it does not hide private information.

Redact information before sharing

Choose Redact and drag over the information you want to cover. Redaction uses an opaque black block. Apply edits and inspect the exported file to make sure the entire detail is covered. Exported edits are flattened into the image, but the unedited original remains in local extension storage for restoration until you delete the capture. Highlighting is not redaction.

Undo changes or restore the original

Undo and Redo work within the current editing session. Cancel discards that session, while Apply edits saves the changes to the selected part. Use Restore original part to recover the unedited capture when you want to start over. Restoring one part does not restore every part of a multipart capture.

Apply edits and export the finished screenshot

Downloads and clipboard use the saved, flattened image, so apply your edits before exporting.

  1. Click Apply edits after reviewing the selected part.
  2. If the capture has multiple parts, inspect and edit each part you need to change.
  3. Use Download image to save the selected part as PNG or JPEG, or Copy image for the clipboard.
  4. Use Download all images for an image ZIP, or Download PDF to include all parts in order.
  5. Open the exported file and review labels, crop boundaries, and covered details before sharing.

What this editor can and cannot change

The editor changes the captured image, not the live webpage or its underlying text. Text labels are annotations, not replacements for editable document text. PDF exports contain rasterized screenshot content. Keep the original page or document if you also need searchable text, working links, or source files.
